Lily Thompson
Lily Thompson-PR Assistant

Bubbly Lily has loved life at Newsmakers from the day she first stepped foot in the studio as a Wymondham College work experience student.

Her spell at Newsmakers convinced Lily that her future career lay in Public Relations – and she successfully applied for a three-year PR course at Sheffield Hallam University.

When each term finishes, Lily rejoins the Newsmakers team, eager to get valuable hands-on experience as a PR Assistant.

I get a real buzz from being in the Newsmakers office; there's so much going on…and always some fascinating new aspect of the business to learn. It's always so busy, but in a relaxed kind of way.

Lily loves meeting people. The jazz evening Newsmakers sponsors each September at the Norwich Playhouse in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer is an event which sticks out as particularly memorable.“It was fantastic to meet lots of Newsmakers' clients in a social setting and spend time mingling with them and chatting to them,” said Lily.

That first adventure in our Studio left the former Norwich School pupil in no doubt her instinct for a career in PR was the right one. “It was a perfect surprise gift for me”.

Henriette made such a good impression she now works at Newsmakers during her holidays from Nottingham University.

There's always something going on at Newsmakers,” said Henriette, who particularly likes working on photoshoots and Social Diary events. “It's very sociable and the studio is always very busy. It's a fantastic environment. I love being there – and it has made my mind up that I want a career in PR.

Norwich-born Henriette, is reading American and Canadian History, Literature and Culture, and has another exciting new experience on the horizon – a year's study at university in the USA.

Andy developed his career by training as a sub-editor which led to his appointment as sports editor of a group of nine weekly newspapers. The team he managed also supplied sub-editing services to several other titles across the eastern counties.

Andy also acted as publications editor before bringing his experience to the Newsmakers team in 2006.

He writes and advises on publicity strategies, liaising with newsdesks around the country and often across Europe and the world. This includes newspapers and magazines, radio and TV stations as well as online and social media.

Outside of the office, father-of-three Andy acts as a trustee or management committee member of five charities and is involved in local church activities. He enjoys travelling and watching Norwich City…. and whichever team his son happens to be playing for at the time!
